About the Latino Complete Count Committee here

The Latino Complete Count Committee (Comite Latino por un Censo Completo) is a network of organizational partners that includes CBO’s, churches, businesses and community activists. Its primary purpose is two-fold: 1) to increase awareness of the importance of the census within the Latino Community and, 2) to encourage all Latino residents to actively participate in the 2010 census.

About the "Nuestro Pueblo Vale" Campaign

The “Nuestro Pueblo Vale…Hagase Contar! is the theme characterizing the Committee’s Latino census initiative. It speaks to the dignity of Latinos as a people while urging Latinos to ensure they are counted. The initiative is a volunteer community campaign, in collaboration with Philly Counts and the Census Bureau, designed to provide educational and promotional information about the Census and encourage Latinos to take action by filling out and returning the census forms. The campaign is targeting nine (9) postal zip codes representing close to 45,000 households where more than 75% of Latinos reside. The campaign has produced bilingual materials, (fact sheets, flyers, posters) that are linguistically and culturally relevant. Hundreds of businesses, service providers, senior centers, faith based institutions, elected officials and other neighborhood stakeholders have been enlisted to serve as vehicles for outreach and the dissemination of information Neighborhood activists, block captains, and other volunteers will be organizing special census awareness events and door-to-door outreach will be conducted throughout Latino neighborhoods. This website Latinovale.com has been designed to serve as a resource for community partners and volunteers. It will provide information on events, marketing toolkits, and select census information.

Be Counted/Questionnaire Assistance Centers Program

The Be Counted program makes census forms available in many different public locations in areas that have been historically undercounted by the census. These locations include community centers, health clinics, convenience stores, churches, businesses and others.

Questionnaire Assistance Centers (QAC) are located in public places such as grocery/retail stores, recreation halls, libraries, and places in the community that are convenient and ideal for residents to visit. The main purpose of the QAC is to assist people in the completion of the census questionnaires and to offer the language assistance needed. All QACs are also BC sites.
